Mason Garrett Duggar (born September 12, 2017) is the fifth child and third son of Joshua Duggar and Anna Duggar.
He is the brother of Mackynzie Duggar, Michael Duggar, Marcus Duggar, Meredith Duggar, Maryella Duggar, and Madyson Duggar.
Early life
Mason as a baby
On March 17, 2017, Josh and Anna Duggar announced on the Duggar family website that they were expecting their fifth child, a son, due in late 2017. Of the pregnancy, Josh and Anna said:
"For nearly the last two years, we have quietly worked to save our marriage, focus on our children, and rebuild our lives together as a family. Doing so is never easy after a breach of trust. We’ve learned that a life of faith and rebuilding a life together is simply done one day at a time. As we continue our journey as a family and rebuild our lives, we are delighted to share with you that we are expecting a new baby boy later this year. Beauty comes from ashes and we cannot wait to see and kiss the face of this sweet new boy!"
Neither Josh nor Anna have talked publicly about the pregnancy, as they have attempted to keep a low profile ever since Josh's 2015 scandals.
His birth was announced on September 12, 2017. Mason Garrett Duggar was born at 1:22 a.m. on September 12, 2017, at his parents' home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He weighed 9 pounds and 1 ounce, and was 22 inches long. His middle name is in honor of his paternal great-grandfather, Garrett Ruark. Of his birth, his parents said:
"We are so thankful and happy to announce the arrival of our new son, Mason Garrett Duggar. Both he and Anna are doing well. He arrived today without complication and we already adore him. The entire family is ecstatic over the arrival of another beautiful blessing. We want to thank everyone for your prayers, kind words, and well wishes. We appreciate it much more than we could ever express. We pray God blesses each of you with an abundance of the kindness you’ve shown us."
Mason is described as a busy and active little guy, bold, adventurous, and very talkative.
Health
When Mason was two weeks old, he started experiencing reactions to a then-unknown allergy. He was temporarily switched to formula while Anna cut a number of common allergens out of her diet. Eventually, it was determined that he had a milk protein allergy, and he was able to resume nursing. Since then, he has been healthy and his parents have been able to manage his allergy by keeping dairy from his diet.
