Grace Annette Duggar (born January 7, 2020) is the first child and only daughter of John-David Duggar and Abbie Duggar.
She is the sister of Charlie Duggar.
Early life
On August 1, 2019, John-David and Abbie Duggar announced that they were expecting their first child, due 2020. The pregnancy was a surprise, with Abbie learning she was pregnant on a trip to urgent care because she was feeling sick. Their pregnancy announcement was featured on the Counting On episode "A Surprise Delivery". In the episode, Abbie revealed that the due date was some time during the week of January 12, 2020.
"We are on Cloud 9 about welcoming our own little Duggar into the world!!! It really is amazing to think about being parents and having our own child to raise. We are thankful that God has blessed us with this new life and we look forward to taking on this new adventure!"
On August 20, 2019, John-David and Abbie posted pictures from their gender reveal party with the caption "Boy or girl, what's your guess??". Around the same time, a video about the gender reveal was posted to the TLC website and then quickly deleted. Later that day, the couple revealed that they were expecting a girl by posting a photo of themselves surrounded by pink confetti. At that time, the video was returned to the TLC website. Their gender reveal was featured on the Counting On episode "La La Land".
On September 19, 2019, a trailer for season 10 of the TLC show Counting On featured a photoshoot for the pregnant Duggar women. This trailer features a clip of Abbie showing up for the photoshoot and announcing her pregnancy to her sisters-in-law. Based on the attendance of both Mary Duggar and Ivy Seewald at this photoshoot, it took place sometime between May 26, 2019 and June 9, 2019, meaning that Abbie could not be due any later than February 2020. This pregnancy announcement was featured on the Counting On episode "Grandma Duggar Remembered".
On October 1, 2019, John-David and Abbie wrote on their Instagram that they couldn't wait to meet their daughter in January 2020. They also revealed that Abbie was 25 weeks pregnant, putting the due date some time between January 8-14, 2020.
On October 31, 2019, Us Weekly shared an interview with John-David and Abbie. They said the pregnancy was difficult, starting with severe morning sickness and then leading to a diagnosis of hyperemesis gravidarum. Due to this condition, she was hospitalized a couple of times and made several ER visits, and also was often on an IV at home to help prevent dehydration.
On December 18, 2019, John-David and Abbie revealed that Abbie was 36 weeks pregnant, putting the due date some time between January 9-15, 2020.
Her birth was announced on January 9, 2020. Grace Annette Duggar was born at 3:21 a.m. on January 7, 2020, in Arkansas. She weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces, and was 20 ¾ inches long. Her parents revealed that they would call her Gracie. Her first name is in honor of Abbie's middle name. Her middle name is in honor of her paternal grandmother Michelle Duggar's middle name. Her birth was featured on the Counting On episode "Meet Gracie Duggar".
"Our lives have changed forever with the arrival of our baby girl. She is a beautiful gift from God. We are so blessed the Lord has given her to us. It's still surreal to know that we are really parents, but it's a great new adventure that we are excited to take on together."
On October 29, 2021, Grace, John-David, and Abbie survived a plane crash. John-David was piloting the plane when it suffered double engine failure, causing him to deploy an emergency landing in a field in Waverly, Tennessee. No one was injured, but the plane was significantly damaged.
